This one-pan garlic Parmesan chicken is loaded with flavor, comes together in about 30 minutes, and pairs beautifully with pasta or roasted veggies.

Chicken:

Sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 6 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • Kosher salt
  • fresh cracked pepper
  • fresh chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a shallow dish, combine flour, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and a couple large pinches of salt and pepper.
  2. Slice each chicken breast in half lengthwise to create two thinner pieces of chicken per breast.
  3. Dredge chicken breast with the flour mixture, making sure it’s coated on all sides.
  4. Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large saute pan over medium heat.
  5. Add chicken and cook for about 4-6 minutes per side or until a dark golden brown crust forms and the chicken is cooked through. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  6. Without wiping out the pan, add butter and turn heat to medium-low.
  7. Add garlic and Italian seasoning along with a couple pinches of salt and pepper. Cook, stirring frequently for 1 minute. Stir in flour and cook, stirring frequently for 1 minute.
  8. Slowly whisk in chicken broth to deglaze the bottom of the pan and scrape all the yummy bits off the bottom of the pan.
  9. Add heavy cream and Parmesan cheese along with a couple pinches of salt and pepper.
  10. Whisk until cheese is melted and sauce is smooth and creamy. Cook over low heat, stirring frequently, until it reaches your desired consistency. Stir drippings from the chicken into the sauce. Season to taste with salt and pepper. 
  11. Nestle cooked chicken into the sauce and cook for a minute or two until heated through. 
  12. Serve with pasta and your favorite veggie for a complete meal! Garnish with fresh parsley and enjoy!

Notes

    • Slice chicken thinly so it cooks quickly and evenly.

    • Use freshly grated Parmesan for best melting and flavor.

    • Deglaze well to incorporate all the flavor from the bottom of the pan into the sauce.

    • Add sauteed spinach or mushrooms to the sauce for extra veggies and texture.
