  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 pound pork breakfast sausage (mild or spicy)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon rubbed sage
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoons paprika
  • 2.5 cups half and half
  • 1 (16.3 ounce) can refrigerated biscuits
  • Kosher salt
  • fresh cracked pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 375 degrees and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

  2. Heat a large saute pan over medium heat. Add sausage and cook, crumbling with a spatula, until browned and cooked through.
  3. Add butter and let melt. Sprinkle in flour, Italian seasoning, rubbed sage, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and a couple large pinches of salt and pepper. Cook, stirring frequently for about a minute.
  4. Slowly whisk in half and half. Bring to a simmer and simmer gently for 3-5 minutes, or until the gravy thickens.
  5. Pour into greased 9×13 pan.
  6. Use a clean kitchen shears to cut the biscuits into quarters and place them in a single layer on top of the gravy.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Let rest for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley and enjoy!
