Salmon Burger Recipe

This easy salmon burger recipe comes together in about 20 minutes and is loaded with flaky roasted salmon, fresh herbs, and lemon zest for a family favorite everyone will love! It's the perfect quick and easy way to use up leftover roasted salmon and get a serving of heart healthy fish.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. roasted salmon, flaked into bite sized pieces (about 3 cups or so)
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • zest of 1 lemon
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • ¼ cup fresh chopped chives + more for garnish
  • ¼ cup fresh chopped parsley + more for garnish
  • Kosher salt
  • fresh cracked pepper
  • vegetable oil for greasing the grill pan or grill

For Serving

  • Brioche buns
  • Dill Yogurt Sauce
  • lettuce
  • sliced red onion
  • sliced cucumber
  • fresh dill
  • capers

Instructions

  1. Add salmon, Panko, egg, lemon zest, mayo, Dijon, chives, and parsley along with a couple large pinches of salt and pepper to a medium-sized bowl.
  2. Mix just until well combined. Don't overmix!
  3. Divide salmon mixture evenly into 4 parts. Form salmon mixture into 4 patties that are about 1-inch thick.
  4. Grease a grill pan or grill with olive oil and heat over medium-high heat.
  5. Add burger patties and cook each side for about 3-5 minutes per side or until a dark golden-brown crust forms on the patties and they are cooked through. 
  6. Serve salmon burgers on a Brioche bun with my infamous Dill Yogurt Sauce, lettuce, red onion, cucumber, dill, and capers. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Don’t overmix the salmon mixture. If you overmix it the salmon will break down into small pieces and the burgers will become dense. Mixing just until the ingredients are combined is the best way to ensure you'll end up with a tender salmon burger with large flakes of salmon throughout.
  • Don't skip the Dill Yogurt Sauce! These salmon burgers lend themselves to a wide variety of toppings but my Dill Yogurt Sauce is the very best! It only takes 5 ingredients and just minutes to throw together!
