- Flavorful. The delicious combination of tender rotisserie chicken, herby sun-dried tomato cream sauce, and al dente noodles makes for a flavor-packed family dinner.
Ingredients for Marry Me Chicken Pasta
- Garlic & Herbs: Freshly minced garlic and Italian seasoning are the perfect base for the delicious sun-dried tomato pasta recipe! Substitute with 3/4 a teaspoon of garlic powder if you don’t have fresh garlic on hand.
- Sun-Dried Tomatoes: I use oil-packed, julienne-cut sun-dried tomatoes in Italian herbs. I find that they have more flavor than the dried ones that come in a bag.
- Chicken Broth: Use chicken broth, chicken stock, veggie broth, or veggie stock for this recipe.
- Heavy Cream: Heavy cream is the key to getting that rich, luxurious sauce. You can substitute with half-and-half, but the sauce will be thinner.
- Parmesan Cheese: Parmesan add a delicious nuttiness and really rounds out the flavor of this marry me chicken pasta. Feel free to use Use Romano or Asiago if you prefer.
- White Wine Vinegar: White wine vinegar might seem like an unusual ingredient, but just trust me on this! A splash of vinegar is my favorite way to add depth and boost the flavor of a cream sauce. You can use red wine vinegar or balsamic vinegar in its place.
- Rotisserie Chicken: Rotisserie chicken is the easiest shortcut to get this meal on the table in 20 minutes! Feel free to use leftover grilled chicken also.
- Pasta: Use your favorite cut of pasta for this recipe. I like penne, but you can also use rigatoni, fusilli, or rigatoni. Fettuccine or linguine would be delicious as well.
- Basil: Fresh chopped basil or parsley adds a delicious brightness to this creamy chicken pasta recipe.
How to Make Marry Me Pasta
Heat olive oil in a large saute pan over medium heat. Add garlic, Italian seasoning, and a couple pinches of salt and pepper. Cook, frequently stirring for about 30 seconds.
Stir in a few splashes of chicken broth until it cleans the bottom of the pan. Be sure to scrape all the yummy bits off the bottom. Add sun-dried tomatoes, heavy cream, chicken broth, Parmesan cheese, and a couple pinches of salt and pepper.
Cook for a couple minutes over medium-low heat until the cheese is melted. Bring it to a simmer and gently simmer until the sauce thickens slightly.
Add white wine vinegar. Stir in rotisserie chicken and pasta. Cook for a couple minutes until warmed through. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Top with fresh basil and enjoy!
Tips for Making Marry Me Chicken Pasta
- Sun-Dried Tomatoes. Opt for jarred sun-dried tomatoes packed in oil for extra richness. Sautéing them with garlic adds an intense, tangy flavor to the sauce.
- Simmer Sauce. Let the creamy sauce simmer for a few minutes to thicken and intensify the flavors. Heavy cream, Parmesan, and seasonings come together beautifully when given time to meld.
