Ingredients and Substitutions

  • Sour Cream – I prefer to use full fat sour cream as I find that it has a better flavor and texture. You could use low fat if you prefer, or you could even use plain Greek yogurt in its place.
  • Olive Oil – You’ll want to use cold-pressed, organic olive oil for this recipe for best flavor. You could sub another mild oil like grapeseed oil or avocado oil, however.
  • Dijon Mustard – Dijon is definitely the ingredient that gives this honey mustard dressing it’s signature flavor. If you want to switch things up try using whole grain or stone ground mustard in its place.
  • Honey – Find a local honey with a flavor that you enjoy for this dressing.
  • Lemon Juice – Fresh squeezed lemon juice is best, but if you don’t have any hand, give this brand of store bought lemon juice a try. I find that it has the best flavor.
  • Fresh Garlic – Freshly minced garlic adds a delicious layer of flavor to this honey mustard dressing. You could use garlic powder in it’s place, but the flavor will be slightly different. I’d recommend just using 1/8 of a teaspoon garlic powder in place of the clove of garlic.

Instructions

Add all ingredients to a mason jar and shake vigorously until dressing is well mixed and emulsified. Add more salt and pepper to taste and serve with your favorite salad.

  1. Made this last night to go with a fried chicken fingers salad. Absolutely delicious, exactly what I was looking for. I used Grey Poupon Country Dijon. Loved it. Thank you.

  2. What a simple recipe! I liked that it uses sour cream instead of mayo. Although I did add a couple teaspoons of mayo and it would delicious!
