Easy Stromboli Recipe
- Uses just a few ingredients and comes together in under 30 minutes
- Crispy, cheesy, and filled with gooey, savory layers that everyone loves
Ingredients for Stromboli Recipe
- Pizza Dough: The base of the stromboli, creating that golden, crispy crust. Use store-bought or homemade dough—just make sure it’s room temperature so it’s easy to roll.
- Italian Seasoning: Brings a boost of herby flavor to the dough. You can also sprinkle on a mix of dried oregano, dried basil, and dried thyme.
- Grated Parmesan Cheese: Adds a salty layer both on the inside and on top of the stromboli. Asiago or Romano is a great substitute.
- Deli Sliced Mozzarella: Melts beautifully and gives that classic cheesy pull. Provolone or Swiss can also be used.
- Deli Pepperoni Slices: Adds bold, savory flavor and texture. You can swap in salami or cooked sausage for variety.
- Shredded Mozzarella: Melts into the filling for extra gooeyness. You could also use a pizza blend or Monterey Jack.
- Egg: Brushed on the dough to help it brown and give a glossy finish. If you don’t have an egg, brush with a bit of milk or melted butter.
- Pizza Sauce: Perfect for dipping each slice—use your favorite jarred or homemade sauce.
How to Make Stromboli Recipe
Roll Out the Dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll the pizza dough into a large rectangle, about 12″ x 14″.
Season the Base: Drizzle the dough with olive oil, then sprinkle evenly with Italian seasoning and 3 tablespoons of the grated Parmesan.
Layer the Fillings: Arrange the sliced mozzarella across the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
Add a layer of pepperoni, then sprinkle the shredded mozzarella on top.
Roll it Up: Starting from the long side, roll the dough tightly into a log. Pinch the seam to seal and fold the ends underneath.
Egg Wash and Vent: Place seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Brush with the beaten egg, then cut a few slits on top to let steam escape.
Bake: Bake for 20–22 minutes, or until golden brown and the crust is cooked through.
Cool, Slice, and Serve: Let it rest for 5–10 minutes. Slice, sprinkle with the remaining Parmesan and fresh parsley, and serve with warm pizza sauce.
