Things I learned while testing this recipe.

  • Use a high-speed blender or food processor for best results. To get that creamy consistency, you’ll really need to use a high-speed blender, food processor, or immersion blender.
  • Adjust the ingredients to taste until the sauce reaches your desired consistency. The great thing about making your own sauces and dressings is that you can make them to suit your taste by adding more or less of certain ingredients.
  • Though cilantro is a key ingredient, if it’s not your thing, you can cut back a bit and let the jalapeno and other spices take the lead, and you can adjust the cumin and chili powder to your liking or even add another preferred spice or spice blend!

Here’s what I’d serve with this cilantro lime sauce.

You’ll want to put this sauce on EVERYTHING.

It will become a refrigerator regular! One of the best things about this cilantro lime sauce recipe is that it’s so versatile! You can use it as a creamy salad dressing, a delicious drizzle, or a simple dipping sauce. Its tangy, citrusy flavor is balanced by just enough spice to make it a family favorite.

Just in case you have leftovers.

  • STORING. Store cilantro lime sauce in an airtight container or wide-mouth mason jar in the refrigerator for up to a week. Season to taste with salt and pepper before serving.
  • FREEZING. Place cilantro lime sauce in a freezer-safe container or Ziploc bag. Freeze for up to 2 months. You could also freeze individual portions in ice cube trays. Thaw sauce overnight in the fridge. You may find that the sour cream has separated a bit. To fix this, stir in a bit of heavy cream until it comes back together and creates a creamy sauce. Season to taste with salt and pepper before serving.
