Perfect Pizza Rolls in the Air Fryer
Cooking pizza rolls in the air fryer is hands down the easiest way to cook them! They literally take 10 minutes or less and I swear they come out even more crispy than when you bake them in the oven! Air fryer pizza bites are the perfect after-school snack or fast lunch when you’re craving something comforting.
Air Fryer Pizza Rolls Ingredients and Substitutions
- Frozen Pizza Rolls – Grab your favorite brand of frozen pizza rolls from the grocery store. For this recipe, any kind will work. We love Totino’s pizza rolls or Amy’s.
- Pizza Sauce – Pizza sauce is, of course, the go-to for these crispy pizza rolls, but if you don’t have a jar of it on hand, marinara sauce or tomato sauce will work as well. Ranch dressing is another favorite dipping sauce for these pizza rolls.
- Parmesan Cheese – A quick shake of grated Parmesan cheese is a delicious way to take frozen pizza rolls to the next level.
- Parsley – Although this garnish is totally optional, I love the fresh flavor it gives. Dried parsley would work as well.
How to Make Pizza Rolls in Air Fryer
Set the air fryer to 380 degrees. Arrange pizza rolls in a single layer in the air fryer basket or tray.
Cook for 6-8 minutes, flipping halfway through. Let sit for 2 minutes so the mozzarella cheese can cool a bit.
Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and serve with pizza sauce and enjoy!
Tips
- Make sure the pizza rolls are in a single layer. This will ensure they cook evenly and all the way through. If there are too many pizza rolls close together, they won’t get crispy. If you’re making more than 20 pizza rolls at one time, just cook them in batches.
- No need for cooking spray – the air fryer gets them perfectly crispy. However, if you’re looking for an extra crispy texture you are welcome to give them a spritz or two of cooking spray, though it’s not necessary.
- If your air fryer seems prone to having things stick to it, feel free to line the air fryer with parchment paper, spray the tray/basket with an air fryer safe cooking spray, or shake the pizza rolls about halfway through the cooking process. I have not had any issues with any food sticking in the instant vortex but all air fryers are slightly different.
- If your pizza rolls explode, no worries! I find that the best way to know if pizza rolls are done is when they explode! Some prefer an un-exploded pizza roll and if that’s the case, just pull them a minute or so early when they are slightly crisp on the outside but have not exploded.
How long do you cook pizza rolls in an air fryer?
Frozen pizza rolls typically need between 6 and 8 minutes to cook through. Every air fryer cooks slightly differently so I recommend checking them every few minutes the first time you cook them in the air fryer, just to make sure they don’t burn and to see what cooking time works best for your air fryer.
How do you cook frozen pizza rolls in the air fryer?
Well, it couldn’t be easier to cook pizza rolls in an air fryer! You literally just put them in and let the air fryer do all the work. No need to heat up the oven or check on them constantly. In about 6-8 minutes they’ll be perfectly golden brown and delicious.
What temperature do you cook frozen pizza rolls in an air fryer?
Pizza rolls are best cooked at 380 degrees Fahrenheit in the air fryer. This will ensure that they cook quickly and evenly but still get nice and crispy on the outside with melty cheese on the inside.
Can you cook frozen pizza rolls in an air fryer?
Yes! The air fryer cooks pizza rolls up perfectly crisp in just minutes. This is why this recipe makes for the perfect snack, appetizer, or quick dinner because it takes literally 10 minutes from start to finish and you don’t have to heat up the oven!
How long can pizza rolls sit out?
I wouldn’t let cooked frozen pizza rolls sit out for longer than 1-2 hours. They really taste best when they are fresh from the air fryer or oven and have cooled slightly, but you can get away with leaving them out at room temperature for a couple hours.
How do I make pizza rolls extra crispy?
Honestly, the air frying frozen pizza rolls is the best way to get them super crisp! It naturally cooks the inside, melting the cheese and warming it through, while simultaneously making the crust super duper crispy and crunchy. The holes in the air fryer tray allow the warm air to circulate evenly around the rolls, which also helps!
Why do pizza rolls explode open?
Pizza rolls explode when the water inside them turns to steam and then has to find a way out. Through my testing, I found that if they’re air fried at 380 degrees it’s a low enough temp that there is little to no exploding. Also, if they do end up exploding a bit, just use a fork to carefully stuff that filling right back in!
Storage and Reheating
- Storage: Store leftover pizza rolls in an airtight container in the refrigerator. These air fry pizza rolls really are best enjoyed fresh so they may not taste quite as good left over.
- Reheating: Because the air fryer is amazing, you can reheat leftovers in the air fryer as well! Set the air fryer at a lower temperature like 320 degrees, and heat the rolls for about 2 minutes or until warmed through.

My pizza rolls still came out frozen I had to cook them for three times as long…. Your directions are the same directions pretty much as is on the bag so it doesn’t make any sense and I know it’s not my air fryer because it works just fine for other stuff
Can I ask what brand/model your air fryer is?
