You Will Love This

  • Air fryers are magic! Air fryer burgers make less of a mess, require less prep time, and because of the circulating air technology, you still get the perfect cook on your burger! These burgers end up with a slightly crisp crust on the outside while staying juicy and tender on the inside.

Ingredients and Substitutions

  • Ground Beef – To ensure the best flavor for burgers I typically use 80/20 or 85/15 ground beef. Remember that fat equals flavor. A burger made with lean beef won’t have as much flavor and will be more likely to dry out. I like to buy pre-made hamburger patties that are already formed and are just made with ground beef from my local grocery store. I don’t recommend substituting ground turkey or ground chicken in this recipe. If you’re looking for a delicious burger with ground poultry, try my Greek burger recipe!
  • Cheddar Cheese – We use sliced cheddar cheese because it melts easily, but you can use whatever cheese you like. Just note that slices usually work best as opposed to crumbles or shredded cheese. The cheese is totally optional!
  • Sesame Seed Hamburger Buns – We like sesame seed buns for this air fryer hamburgers recipe, but you can use whatever hamburger buns you like. Brioche, potato buns, or ciabatta buns are some of our favorites too.
  • Easy Burger Sauce Don’t forget to make my amazing burger sauce! It takes just minutes to throw together and you’ll want to put it on everything! It’s a mayo-based sauce with diced pickles and a slight tang from Dijon mustard.

Instructions

Heat air fryer to 350 degrees. Add burger patties in a single layer to the air fryer basket or trays. Sprinkle with Kosher salt.

Tips

  • Toast the buns. Butter the hamburger buns and pop them into the air fryer, butter side up, for 1-2 minutes to get them nice and toasty warm. If you’re avoiding carbs or prefer your burger without a bun, feel free to create a lettuce wrap out of a large leaf of butter lettuce or iceberg lettuce instead!
  • The best way to check and see if your burgers are done is to use a meat thermometer inserted into the center. You’re looking for an internal temperature of 160 degrees.
  • Add all your favorite toppings! And don’t skip the burger sauce! These burgers are a blank canvas so dress them up however you like with pickles, onions, lettuce, tomatoes, bacon and more!

Variations

You can mix any number of seasonings into your ground beef to add extra flavor to this air fryer burger recipe. Some of our favorites include:
