    You Will Love These

    • They are great for busy mornings! Making hash browns always feel like a bit of a treat reserved for weekend mornings, but the air fryer makes fresh hash browns a possibility even on a busy weekday morning!
    • They're the perfect breakfast side dish! If you're hosting brunch for friends, these air fryer hash browns pair well with my breakfast casserole, air fryer french toast, or pizza dough cinnamon rolls! They're so convenient because you don't have to spend time preheating the oven either.

    Ingredients and Substitutions

    • Frozen Hash Brown Patties - Any brand of frozen hash brown patties will work for this recipe. And the best part is that you can cook them straight from frozen without thawing!

    Instructions

Heat the air fryer to 375 degrees. Place frozen hash browns in the tray or air fryer basket in a single layer and cook for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through.

If you want them extra crispy, add a few minutes to the cooking time.

Season to taste with salt (and pepper if you like), serve with ketchup, and enjoy!

    Tips

    • No need to spray them with cooking oil! These hash browns cook up perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside without the need for a cooking spray, olive oil, or avocado oil.
    • Add more cooking time for extra crispy hash browns. A little extra time in the air fryer will take these hash browns from golden brown to extra crispy, so depending on how you prefer your hash browns, play around with the timing to get your preferred crispiness.
    • Serve these hash browns any way you like! Hash browns can be topped with ketchup, shredded cheese, or bacon, and used in breakfast sandwiches with eggs, ham, and toast! These hash browns, like all potato-based foods, are super versatile, so get creative!
    • If you want to add extra flavor, try seasoning these hash browns with a sprinkle of garlic powder, onion powder, or dried Italian seasoning!
    • If you want to cook lots of hash browns at one time, you may need to cook them in batches. However, with the Instant Vortex (which is the Instant Pot version of an air fryer) you can cook 12 hashbrowns at one time - 6 on each tray.

    FAQ

Can you fry hash browns in an air fryer?

Yes, and it's SO easy! Just toss them in a preheated air fryer at 375 degrees and cook for 10 minutes until crispy!

Can you cook hash browns from frozen in the air fryer?

Yes! It is actually better to cook hash browns straight from the freezer when you are air frying them. That way they are less likely to fall apart and don’t simply burn.

How long should you air fry a hash brown?

Depending on how crispy you prefer your hash browns, they'll usually take between 10 and 12 minutes to fry in the air fryer. Though if you like crispier hash browns, you can add 2-4 minutes.

    Make-Ahead, Storage, and Reheating

    • Make-Ahead: These air fryer hash browns are best warm, plus they're so quick and easy to make, but you can make them ahead of time and reheat leftover hash browns when you are ready to serve.
    • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
    • Reheating: You can use the air fryer to reheat leftover hashbrowns. Put them on the tray/in the basket and set the air fryer to 350 degrees. Cook for a few minutes until they are warmed through and crispy.
